Family trip to Beijing, Xian, Gulin and Shanghai (12 Days)

Terry and his wife were pleasantly surprised that their 2 young adult sons were willing to travel to China with them. This is the 1st visit to China for the family. Terry loved that fact that all details were taken of.

  • 3 nights in Beijing was just an introduction to this amazing city. Highlights included the Forbidden City, Tiananman Square, the Temple of Heaven, a walking tour of the Hutongs and of course the incredible Great Wall of China.
  • 2 nights in historical Xian, visiting the silent rows of Terra Cotta Warriors, exploring the various museums, the City Wall and Wild Goose Pagoda.
  • 2 nights in the Gulin and Yangshuo area with its amazing landscapes of the Li River and limestone formations, and an opportunity to explore the small city of Yangshuo on their own.
  • 2 nights in the very cosmopolitan city of Shanghai with its’ many buildings featuring a mixture of traditional as well as futuristic designs.

Rates @ 1800.00 per person (based on a family of 5 with 3 rooms) which included English speaking guides, with air conditioned minivans and drivers for all transfers and sightseeing, 3 star hotel accommodations (total 10 nights) with daily breakfasts, Overnight train (soft sleeper) between Beijing and Xian, 09 Lunches

Day 01, Arrival Beijing

Your guide will meet you after customs and immigration. Transfer to your hotel.A dinner is arranged for tonight.

Day 02, Beijing

A full day tour with guide and driver to Tiananman Square, Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven. (Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 03, Beijing

Great Wall of China has a few sections that are accessible to the public. You will visit the Bedaling section of the Great Wall today which is the most visited section of the Great Wall. It will be useful to have a back pack for all your needs today. Steps of Great Wall can be steep and uneven. Hat and water bottle is highly recommended.(Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 04, Beijing - Xian

in-the-park-colin-hughesCheck out after breakfast. Proceed for tour to the SummerPalace, and after lunch to the Hutongs. Tour to the Hutongs will be a walking tour. Transfer to rail station for overnight train # Z19, leaving Beijing at 8:47pm.

These “Z” category trains are air conditioned sleeping cars, far superior to any flight, and saves time. These are 4 berth soft class sleepers. (Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 05, XIAN

Train Z19 will arrive Xian at 7:58am.Proceed for breakfast in hotel. It is too early for hotel check in. Proceed for tour of the Wild Goose Pagoda erected in AD 622, SteleForestMuseum and Ming Dynasty City Wall which overlooks the city. (Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 06, Xian

The Terra Cotta Warriors, the Qin emperor's life-size army of more than 6,000 clay soldiers (no two statues are alike, giving credence to the speculation that the petrified army was modeled on individual warriors), their horses and chariots have amazed countless visitors. You will also visit Ban Po Museum and Neolithic Village for a glimpse of prehistoric life in China. (Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 07, Xian - Guilin

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Guilin. On arrival Guilin your guidewill meet you and proceed for tour of Reed Flute caves with interesting limestone formations and to Fubo Hill for a panoramic view of the city. (Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 08, Li River - Yangshuo

farm-along-the-li-riverCheck out of hotel after breakfast. Depart with luggage to the dock (approximately 1 hour’s drive) to board boat for the beautiful Li River Cruise. The scenery is spectacular. Lunch is served on board. Disembark at Yangshuo. The guide will check you into the Lijiang Hotel.

Free to explore this small and user friendly city then on your own. (Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 09, Yangshuo - Shanghai

Free morning to explore Yangshuo on your own. You can rent a bike, go on a short hike, shop, and spend more time on the river. After lunch (optional), your guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Shanghai.

On arrival Shanghai transfer to hotel. (Breakfast)

Day 10, Shanghai

Day 11, Shanghai

Free day to explore Shanghai on your own. Suggestions include spending time at the famous ShanghaiMuseum, shopping, day trips to nearby “water towns” a day trip to Suzhou, evening cruise on the river, etc. (Breakfast)

Day 12, Departure for Home

Check out hotel by noon, time free on your own. Make your own way to PudongAirport for your flight home. (Breakfast)
